Feel more like yourself
Maybe you know it wasn’t your fault, and that you’re safe now. You know it in your head, but your body hasn’t gotten the message. That’s the gap we work on together, at your pace.
Jessica Frankel, LCSWLicensed Clinical Social Worker · EMDR Therapist
You know it in your head. It just doesn’t feel true.
- You know you’re not “too much,” and you still make yourself smaller so people will stay.
- You overthink every text, every tone, every little shift in someone’s mood.
- You keep ending up in the same kind of relationship, with the same kind of hurt.
- Part of you is ready for something new, and fear keeps pulling you back to what’s familiar.
- Anxiety hums in the background, even when things are going fine.
- Something from the past still hits way harder than it “should.”
- Nothing’s wrong exactly. You just want a space that’s yours, where you don’t have to take care of anyone else.
Hi, I’m Jess.
I’m not a sit-back-and-nod kind of therapist. I talk with you, not at you.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR therapist, working virtually with teens and adults across Florida. Sessions with me feel like real conversations: honest, warm, and with room for a little laughter, even when things are hard.
More about meWhy you can know you’re okay and still not feel okay
“Nervous system” gets said a lot these days, but here’s what it actually means.
Your nervous system is your body’s built-in communication and protection system, connecting your brain, spinal cord, and the nerves throughout your body. One part of it, the autonomic nervous system, runs automatically behind the scenes, regulating things like your heart rate, breathing, digestion, and stress response.
Because it runs on its own, it doesn’t always get the memo from your logical mind. Stress and past experiences can show up in your body as:
- A racing heart
- A tight chest
- A pit in your stomach
- Muscle tension
- Feeling on edge
- Shutting down
- Feeling disconnected
That’s why the nervous system is part of every area of our work together. Whether we’re talking something through, exploring relationships, working with anxiety or grief, learning ways to regulate, or processing the past through EMDR, we pay attention to the connection between what you think, what you feel, and what’s happening in your body.
The goal isn’t to feel calm all the time. It’s to understand yourself and your body better, move through hard emotions, and have more choice in how you respond.
Letting the past feel like the past.
Some experiences leave us with beliefs like “I’m not enough” or “I have to be perfect.” Even when you know better, they still show up in your relationships, your anxiety, and your everyday reactions.
That’s where therapy, and especially EMDR, comes in. The goal isn’t to erase what happened. It’s to help it lose its grip, so you can see yourself more clearly and move through life feeling more like you.
